A
s people turn in droves to shopping online, there’s still one used-book and record store discreetly tucked away behind a modest storefront that makes it easy to miss. And one visit to Diskovery is enough that you’ll be glad you found it. Yolanda Stratter, the owner, has run the joint for more than 30 years with her trusty feline sidekicks. It’s not the most organized of places, with floor-to-ceiling stacks of books and boxes of vinyl all over the place, so come prepared to dig—but that’s half the fun anyway. If you’re looking for something in particular, Stratter will amaze you by knowing exactly where it is. She’s also known to give on-the-spot discounts. Arpie
