Started by jewelry aficionado Paul Turnberg more than 30 years ago, this subterranean jewelry mecca is home to a collection ranging from bakelite to art deco and 1940s and 1950s tiaras to sterling silver from designers including Hattie Carnegie, Miriam Haskell, and Eisenberg. Another great secret: There's a bargain bin. And just beyond the main room is a trove of paintings, prints and photographs including rare paint-by-number nudes from the 1940s and 1950s. Carriero
