Fall Fashion
No month says style like September.

eptember has caught up to us once again. It's a big month, signaling that summer's over (even if it doesn't feel that way) and that the students are back. (I think I feel older on Labor Day Weekend than on my birthday.) It's also a big month for fashion.
New York may have its world-famous fashion week, but I'm pretty excited about the one that runs right here in Boston from September 24 to October 1. More on that later.
In the meantime, there are plenty of other things to keep us busy. On Friday I saw the Avedon exhibit at the MFA. Go. It's breathtaking. There are also many other Fashion Month events at the museum, though, sadly, the talk by Mad Men creator Matthew Weiner is sold out.
If you haven't had a chance to check out the new Anthropologie store in Harvard Square, you must. The space feels fresh and charming, a nice addition to the neighborhood, even if it is a big ol' chain. It also wouldn't hurt to cross the street and sneak a peek at the Tannery's fall offerings. It does a great shoe and denim buy every season, and I love the fact that I don't need to head to a department store to check out the cream of the crop.
If the mall is your thing: the Natick Collection and the Red Sox Foundation host the ninth annual "From Fenway to the Runway" on Wednesday (September 8) from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., which includes a fashion show and lunch. (Of course, the Red Sox and fashion do not usually mix, unless you're talking about the players' wives and girlfriends.) Find tickets here.
Boldfacers hosts a vintage-clothging "pop-up store" at the W Boston Thursday (September 9) from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. with Dame, Vintage Revenge, Rescue, and other retailers. Cocktails, music, plus vintage shopping, all in one—it doesn't get any better.
It doesn't seem like Boston has much planned for Fashion's Night Out Friday (September 10), but, really, there's no way we can compete with NYC with this one. If I were you, that's where I would be spending the weekend.
Lastly, though it's still a few weeks away, there is at least one event you should not to miss: the Swapaholics' Boston Fashion Week Sip & Swap. Mark your calendars for Thursday, September 30. The swap is going to be held at the Armory in Somerville, which will also play host to a Second Glass wine tasting and fashion-blogger mixer the same night. Amy and Melissa have lots of surprises in store, plus tickets are only $10. Buy yours here.
Get your outfits ready, and stay tuned for more Boston Fashion Week news.
