Where to find essential accessories

A
t this point in the summer, I'm tired of most of my hot-weather outfits. Flimsy dresses and flip flops aren't cutting it for me anymore, and it's only August. We have at least a month, probably longer, until the weather will be cool enough for new proportions.
How will we get survive? Accessories, of course! I love how a single piece of jewelry, such as a cocktail ring, can transform an outfit.
They don't have to cost a lot. My favorites pieces are usually costume. I have a silver collar necklace from H&M that wins me more compliments than anything else I own, and I spent $10 on it. My favorite stops in town include the Cambridge Antique Market, 20th Century Limited, and Utso, a Tibetan boutique (1691 Massachusetts Ave.). They have the best chandelier earrings. The vintage market at SOWA is always overflowing with finds, and I'm certainly not above raiding So Good (349 Newbury St.). If money is no object, a Marni necklace from Louis (60 Northern Ave.) would do the trick.
It's fun to pile on a ton of beads and baubles, but don't go overboard. Big earrings and a bracelet go together, as does a statement necklace and a big ring. Most importantly, remember the famous words of Coco Chanel: "When accessorizing, always take off the last thing you put on."
