he oldest child of John “Honey Fitz” Fitzgerald and Mary Josephine Hannon, Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy—matriarch of the Kennedy political dynasty—was born on July 22, 1890 in the nondescript house at 4 Garden Court near the intersection with Prince Street in the North End. The house is now privately owned. Marcus
in Congress and two as mayor of Boston.

The Fitzgeralds moved from the North End to Dorchester when Rose was a child. She attended the New England Conservatory of Music, where she studied piano, but her father, Mayor John "Honey Fitz" Fitzgerald, refused to let her go to Wellesley College.
