How to book a free party in a hideaway bar
M
cFadden’s seems at first glance like your typical Faneuil Hall-area bar with overpriced Sam Adams and a crush of aging frat brothers and gum-chewing coeds. Until you walk downstairs. There, in the basement, is an old bank vault complete with deposit boxes and a giant door welded permanently open. It’s a whole other bar, and it’s usually open only for private events, but you can grab it for free in a relatively easy-to-win raffle for an after-work party from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. with cheap beer and mixed drinks and a DJ. Partygoers can kick back in relax in the booths or at the small tables and ottomans and watch their coworkers make fools of themselves on the dance floor. Cassis
bring 50 of your closest friends. Oh, yeah, and
they have to pay for their drinks. Of course.
Shhh who knew
Colonial Boston's main street, which ran from the harbor to the Old State House, was originally called King Street. It was renamed State Street as a jibe at the monarchy during the Revolutionary War.
