W
hile every hot young band cites influences equally varied and obscure, Leisure lets its sound do all the talking. Meshing genres from around the globe, these Allston-bred upstarts combine a careful mix of stylish instrumentation and introspective lyrics to produce pure sonic Bacchanalia, powered by a wonderfully fresh and distinctly organic flavor. Leisure’s music is more storytelling than the average barroom band’s, each instrument working in concert to transport listeners to places near and far with a combination of precision drum flourishes, crooning guitar lines, and lyrics smoldering with intensity. Each song cuts right to the central nervous system and forces you to your feet. Keep your eyes peeled: when they’re not touring Boston drinkeries and laying down tracks in the studio, these young guns host epic dance parties. Keller

Shhhh! Leisure’s Jed Rouhana, Sam Hamad, Christopher Link, and Michael Pozzi all went to high school together and “huddled in the corner skipping class to talk about being in a band,” as Pozzi puts it.
Shhhh! Tracks often include additional percussion, synth, and string. One featured a classical quintet from the Longy School of Music in Cambridge.
