All-you-can-eat sushi, where you'd least expect it
W
e don’t know if William McKinley dug maguro with his maki rolls, but it’s likely the 25th president—who was once a guest there—would be as surprised as you to find it in an historic Brahmin enclave like the Copley Square Hotel. Yet not only does the city’s second-oldest continually operating hotel now serve sushi; its XHALE restaurant lets you help yourself to all the sushi you can eat on Thursday nights. Sushi & Sake Thursdays are all part of the old dame’s $18 million makeover into a chic boutique hotel, but you can get yours for about the same as a sushi-deluxe assortment at the a-la-carte places. Okay, beside the spicy tuna rolls, the sushi bar will fill you up with mostly vegetarian cucumber rolls and sweet-potato tempura. But it’s still a deal. Even President McKinley would have thought so.
