Old-fashioned ice cream in up-to-date flavors
F
ounded in 1976 by a couple of unemployed neighbors, the Ice Creamsmith is a reminder that getting out of the rat race can lead to much, much better things. It serves a selection of old-fashioned 14 percent butterfat ice cream made in an Emery Thompson ice cream freezer, with classic flavors like vanilla, strawberry, and sweet cream, but also frozen pudding, banana, and a revolving selection of low-fat frozen yogurt and fruit sorbets under toppings ranging from Reese’s Cups to bubble gum, and specialties including ice-cream sundaes. Araki
and freezes whatever goes into it and was
invented by Emery Thompson in 1906.
Shhh who knew
Americans eat more ice cream than anyone else on earth—15 quarts per person per year, on average. The most popular flavor? Vanilla, which accounts for nearly one-third of ice-cream sales.
