Sea in the Dark
Late-night sushi in a place you’d least expect to find it
L
ittle known to the vacationers who crowd it in the daytimes and the locals who often brush past it, Chef Todd English’s Kingfish Hall at Quincy Market offers more than the usual traditional New England seafood. It serves West Coast-style sushi till 1 a.m. Thursday through Saturday—well after the tourists are in bed. What’s more, some of the best of it isn’t on the menu, like the Screaming Tuna roll: tuna, cucumbers, siracha, scallions, and tempura flakes in a wasabi soy wrapper with a side of citron ponzu sauce. If you want something heartier, try the Steakhouse Zushi sandwich: seaweed and sticky rice filled with thin-sliced New York strip steak sautéed with peppers and onions. Moravek
