ortheastern University’s best-kept secret is not the new dorms or high-tech classrooms of this one-time safety school. It’s Chicken Lou’s. This minuscule sandwich shop is nothing more than a shack with a window from which customers can pick up their orders. But the sandwiches are as big as the place is small—and delicious, most notably the “TKO,” with grilled chicken, melted Swiss, and crispy bacon drenched in a honey-mustard sauce, all on a fresh roll. The stand also rolls out killer bacon, egg, and cheeses, making it crucial breakfast stop. Vitale
