ot only does Marathon Sports sell running shoes chosen for you by experienced runners; it also offers up a free opportunity for you to put those shoes to work. The store has free, open running groups that meet every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday for runs around Brookline and Newton spanning everywhere from two to 20 miles—shorter runs in the evening, typically, and longer runs on Saturday mornings—and on Wednesday evenings in Boston and Wellesley. Along with help from the store’s experienced staff, the group runs can help you train for a race. No membership is required, just an interest in running and meeting new people. Arpie
