The underground races of elite runners
R
eady, set, go! Looking for some running competition? Head over to Fresh Pond in Cambridge every Saturday morning for an informal race on a circuit through the woods. You can run one, two, three, or four laps (2.5, five, 7.5 or 10 miles). Then find the results of the 2.5-and five-mile races in the sports page of the Sunday papers. The races are organized but free. And except for a slightly challenging hill at the end, the path is mostly flat with pleasant scenery. Jacobson
Phil Keeley, Joe MacDonald, and Diane McLaughlin.
