irl-on-girl action has never been so family friendly. The Boston Militia women’s tackle football team is challenging the notion that elbow pads and kneepads (though maybe not cups) belong on men only. The Boston Militia dominates the Independent Women’s Football League (IWFL), with 1,600 woman on more than 50 teams. Though the league, having formed in 2000, is relatively new, the Militia already has a history of winning and strong family and community support. With the excitement, family-friendly atmosphere and record of success, the Militia is giving those fellows in Foxboro a run for their money. Moravek

The Boston Militia, owned by car czar Ernie Boch Jr., was formed through a merger of the Boston Rampage of the IWFL and the Mass Mutiny of the National Women’s Football Association.
