ix makes old stuff cool. A fun aggregation of vintage kitsch and modern gifts, this funky boutique is in an island class by itself, with antique dial phones, typewriters, posters, signs—even the Golden Books you remember reading as a child. And if nostalgia doesn't do it for you, there's hip new wares like candy-colored porcelain tableware and eco totes made from recycled Cambodian rice sacks, plus vintage women’s and new children’s clothes and housewares.
Alley's General Store in West Tisbury, and, before that, the store Farfetched in New York City, where she also worked as a teacher in Greenwich Village.
Shhh who knew
In 1977, Martha's Vineyard residents considered seceding from the state, having been threatened with a loss of their seat in the Legislature. They were invited to join landlocked Vermont before the rebellion petered out.
April through December, daily, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
January through March, Thursday through Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
