And the Brown Jug, a few blocks off Route 6A in the tiny Sandwich downtown business district (all of it a secret worth discovering), will pack the perfect picnic for you, with sandwiches, antipasti, and fixings including gourmet meats, cheeses, nuts, chocolates, crackers, honey, mustards, jams, jellies, olives, and desserts. The adjacent wine shop focuses on Italian vinos, pinots, and craft beers. You may end up skipping the beach altogether in favor of people-watching from the bistro-style corner patio, where jazz plays in the afternoons.

Shhhh! Run by an interior designer and a former Four Seasons Hotel manager, the shop is impeccably stocked and decorated, with original art on the walls.
