n seafood-centic Cape Cod, the Red Pheasant is a hidden gem for meats and game, prepared in French and old-fashioned New England style from recipes as classic as the 200-year-old carriage house itself, with its original wide-planked wooden flood, exposed beams, and working fireplaces. Family-run by second-generation restaurateurs, the Red Pheasant is known for its veal, duck, and beef dishes, but the secret specialty is the rack of Cape-raised lamb, flavored with port wine, rosemary, and garlic, enjoyed under the romantic glow of brass light fixtures and candlelight.

The Red Pheasant is in a carriage house built by Captain Calvin Howes, who used the materials from a ship's chandlery he had dismantled and moved from nearby Corporation Beach in 1899, when the building was already 100 years old. They don't build 'em like they used to.
