After repeatedly refusing to allow the sale of alcohol since Prohibition, voters in Tisbury, which includes Vineyard Haven, ended up in a dead tie in 2008 on the question, 690 to 690, before finally approving it two years later. Only beer and wine is allowed, and only in restaurants with 30 seats or more.
